I recently joined up with friend and fellow photographer Li Ward to shoot another wedding, this time at the Commander’s Mansion in Watertown, MA. The curious thing here is that I actually lived in Watertown for five years myself, and I had never noticed this stunning building tucked between the large old trees along the Charles River and the more modern stores of Arsenal Street. What a stunning venue for a wedding – particularly one as intimate as this!
Justine and Chris planned to hold their ceremony outdoors, but a quick and crazy rainstorm dictated that we move everything indoors. I don’t really think anyone noticed the change, as the Mansion is full of light and character on its own.
After the ceremony, guests were able to roam the entire Mansion and grounds. The patio was pretty darn romantic, soft music playing throughout the dinner hour. I loved that there was no set seating, but rather some incredible passed hor d’oeuvres as well as a buffet of mini burgers and mini fajitas. There were even whoopie pies for dessert!
Chris’ son absolutely tore it up on the dance floor! This is just one moment in time when his back-up dancers joined him, but this little guy was workin’ it alllll night long! We only later realized that he was watching himself in the same mirror shown in the ceremony photo above.
I just had to share a few of this little doll as well… Maybe Li and I can photograph these two kids’ wedding someday? You know we’ll be on the dance floor too!
