Maternity with Suzanne

Suzanne & Luke are wedding-clients-turned-friends, from this beautiful winter wedding in New Hampshire!

I was so excited to spend a morning with Suzanne, golden retriever Ollie, and their little bundle-on-the-way last month! Suzanne is such a beautiful woman inside and out, and just so graceful with this very important role.

And I’m so happy to share that little William joined the world on April 16th!

We enjoyed snapping a few Polaroids as well, and Ollie played along! What a great sport – I hope he’s enjoying being a tender big brother!

Luke, Suzanne, Ollie and William… I can’t WAIT to see you again, all together, very soon! What a beautiful family and life you will share! XO

The Bikes of Lucca, Italy

It has been an amazing two weeks in Tuscany so far, and a couple more to go!

Julie and I have explored so many nooks and crannies of Florence, but I’m sure we’ll stumble upon so many more. We’ve hopped on the local trains to Siena, Lucca and an incredible antiques fair in Arezzo. I’ve been capturing film photos (my fav!) the whole way through, but here are some digital to tie you over – some of the awesome bikes along the roadside in Lucca!

We’re WILDLY posting to Instagram, of course, you can check out Julie’s blog for more weekly coverage!

What have we learned so far?

1. It’s all espresso, all the time, and you shoot it while standing. If you want to sit down, you gotta pay more. If you want booze in it, it comes with a free smile too.

2. The real Italian leather should be bought in the local shops, not the street vendors. I mean, you probably didn’t need me to tell you that… but take it from a girl who sniffs out whatever costs the most, without fail. Also, don’t pack a purse or boots… just buy ‘em when you get here.

3. Chances are good that the shops who pile their gelato high don’t actually make it themselves. But don’t worry, we’ve found the good ones :-) Favorite flavors so far are “cookies” and “black sesame”.

4. Don’t even think of picking out your own produce – tell the shop owner that you’d like a head of lettuce, and he/she will pick it out for you. *slap*

5. It seems “polite” in Italy to leave your table with wine still left in the carafe. We North Americans consider it rude, so we might try to steal a carafe from the next table while the waitstaff isn’t looking. Kidding! So far…

Katie + Rob’s Vermont Wedding

Katie and Rob married on the most beautiful August day, at the West Mountain Inn in Arlington, Vermont.

I’m beside myself to realize I haven’t yet blogged Katie and Rob’s wedding! It happens for various reasons, namely when other publications are interested in sharing a wedding exclusively, or when the details of a wedding are so seasonal that I’m excited to post at a certain time. I do try to share every single wedding, but there are a handful still holding – and I’m bursting with excitement for you to see them!

As for Katie and Rob – it just doesn’t get any more perfect for a Vermont wedding! Green Mountains, summer sunshine, llamas, a barn… and so much laughter and love!

It rained until five minutes before their ceremony start, but then what a beautiful light we had among the Green Mountains of Vermont!

The flowers were among the most amazing I’ve ever seen, created by a friend of the couple, and grower at Green Peak Farm in Dorset, VT, Megan Osterhout. I love the local and in-season sourcing, perfect for a summer day!

My own wedding was at the West Mountain Inn as well, in the middle of a snowy winter. The barn wasn’t yet restored for weddings at the time, so it was really amazing to see such a lovely spot open up for Katie and Rob’s dinner and celebration! It was also pretty darn cool to have my husband alongside to assist in photographing this special day!

I loved the wooden tray used as a guest book. The journals on each table were meant to be filled by guests, capturing stories to combine into one whole. Quite a unique take – similar in concept to the disposable camera idea, but in words!

The cake and incredible spread of desserts was a contribution from the groom’s sister, a dessert chef in Boston (and I’m also pretty excited to photographer HER wedding this coming summer!).

So many personal touches and contributions made Katie and Rob’s day unique. There was a Laphroaig station in honor of their dog, named after their favorite scotch, and as a surprise, Katie’s dad came out in full bag-piper glory to cheer the newlyweds!

Congratulations to you both, Katie and Rob! It was truly been an honor and a pleasure hangin’ with you guys over the last year and a half! Our snowy Stowe engagement session goes down in history for one of my all-time favorites as well! See you soon again! XO

Michele + Kevin at Willowdale Estate

Kevin and Michele had a beauuuutiful fall wedding this November, at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA.

We’ve had a weird weather year – in fact, we’re having weird weather right now – but with colors like these still on November 9th, maybe November is the new October?

I’ve known Kevin and Michele for a few years now, maybe camping in the pouring rain was our first date? These two are always up for adventure, including hiking and camping and even honeymooning in sleeping bags across Patagonia! They’ve found a beautiful historic home in Ipswich to settle in to (near their Crane Beach engagement session!), and have kicked off their life together beautifully. I was so happy and honored to be there to share this day with them!

willowdale-estate-wedding-photoThis adorable barn is on the couple’s own property – a perfect location for their “first look”, seeing each other for a snuggle before the wedding!

A little glimpse of life at this moment: Obama elected for his second term as President, and the packing process for a two-week trek in South America! (totally jealous)

Michele’s girlfriends helped with creating the bouquets and boutonnieres, and were even still knitting shawls on the morning of the wedding!A chilly outdoor ceremony indeed, but everyone was smiling as they exchanged vows and Michele’s brother sang a song.willowdale-estate-wedding-photowoodsy wedding invitation photowillowdale-estate-wedding-photowillowdale-estate-wedding-photo

Willowdale is a beautiful estate property on Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield. There are so many nooks and pathways to walk along, making for great photos in the November air. Of course Michele and Kevin brought it many of their own special touches to the interior. For as long as I’ve known her, Michele is incredible at always sending handmade cards in the mail. I love that they named each table after species of trees!

Congratulations on an truly amazing day, my friends! I’m so excited to follow along on your great big adventure of life together!
