Mount Washington Wedding

Luke and Suzanne were married at the historic Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH this January. I love how their story came to be, and I was so honored to be there to capture this special day!

See, Luke and Suzanne were planning a large and happy mid-summer wedding under a tent. They were scouting the location and discussing food for 100 guests. When I received an e-mail saying that they were changing direction – that the just didn’t feel their plans were “them” – my smile grew larger and larger as I read on. New plans were to invite an intimate group of 16 to join them on the weekend of January 7th in the incredible White Mountains of New Hampshire! Snow, spa, hot chocolate by the fire… amazing.

Welcome, to the National Historic Landmark now called the Omni Mount Washington Resort, at the base of the highest peak in New England, Mount Washington itself.

After an adorable first look on one of the majestic porches of the Hotel, Luke and Suzanne said their vows by a cozy fireplace.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say winter weddings are my favorite. You may recall that our own wedding was outside in the Vermont snow one January :-) Luke and Suzanne were prepared to work it for their outdoor photos, just so relaxed and beautiful in the way they looked at each other through the cold…

The stunning flowers were designed by the hotel’s own floral director, Sara Severance. SO perfect for the day! [pinit]

So nice to have their dog, Ollie, join in for a few photos! (sorry, horsey, I forget your name)

I love these guys. In a weird twist of fate, Luke and his best man actually grew up in Dorset, Vermont where my husband Gary is from – and there may have been some stories about pea-shooters back in the day, ha!

The long dinner table was a warm winter welcome. And to complete the beautiful picture of their wedding day, everyone walked down to the outdoor fire for snuggles and s’mores and to toast the newlyweds one final time. So much love and laughter in the air!

A huge thanks goes to Heidi of White Loft Studio. Given the change in winter wedding plans, Heidi and I came together in a unique situation to capture this day as a duo – and such a lovely date she was!

Luke and Suzanne, thank you for inviting us in to your truly amazing wedding weekend – congratulations to you both, and to your wonderful families! I love the friendships we’ll carry forward as well.

peg - I adore her floral arrangement. So green and wintry woodsy. And the whole wedding is refined and elegant. Smaller can truly be better.

It looks like a magical day and the imagery just stunning. I love the outside shots of them and the scenic details you captured… In addition to Ollie and the horse :)
