Drakensberg Mountains

Our South Africa travels continued up through KwaZulu Natal’s “Midlands” area and further into the Drakensberg Mountains – the highest mountain range in South Africa (3482 meters).

South Africa surprised me with its rolling landscape and lush greens. It seemed a bit more like how I expect Ireland to look! Alicia Swedenborg and I first arrived in the town of Nottingham Road for a couple days of wedding festivities (more on that later!). We stopped at the incredible Blueberry Hill Cafe (more than once) for their prized cheesecake – the perfect place to enjoy a thunderstorm! We also found the biggest South African fly-fishing shop and guide group to pick up a few souvenirs for my husband back home. Extra awesome was the afternoon we spent at the local Fordoun Spa after the wedding! All on the path to the Drakensberg Mountains, where we had a blast photographing Justin & Candice two days after their wedding.

The little nooks, few and far between, where we found wifi!

And the enchanted scenes from our hike with Justin & Candice (them in their wedding garb!)… much more to come!
