Julie and Tony were married at Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, Rhode Island earlier this fall! What a gorgeous backdrop, and a gorgeous couple!
I joined fellow photographer and good friend Brea McDonald on this September day, and we were oh-so-fortunate to start with a first-look opportunity for the bride and groom. They decided to see each other about an hour before the ceremony, providing an intimate, quiet moment to take in the day together. What a sweet thing to witness, quietly behind the camera.
I never push a first-look for my couples – I didn’t even know about them when I got married – but it sure does provide an incredible opportunity for photos! We were able to wander the grounds for an hour, exploring the gardens, bamboo grove and oceanfront views of Blithewold Mansion. Not to mention, the couple doesn’t have to save time for such photos once the festivities kick off.
Supermodel much? You guys are gorgeous.
As friends and family were gathering, we snuck back in the back doors of the mansion.
Man, I really love photographing connections, interactions and relationships…
The ceremony… behind me was the mystical Rhode Island coast.
One thing that’s pretty difficult with only one photographer is capturing the untouched reception decor. Most often, guests will grab their name card early and go put their stuff down at their seat. Even with Brea and I both here at Blithewold, these shots are taken at an angle to avoid about ten people who were walking through the tent on my right.
I was absolutely in love with these menus set perfectly within the charger plates. I must mention that all the invitations, programs, placecards, menus, and everything in between were designed by the very talented bride herself – find her at Julie Powers Design!
Congratulations to the happy couple, and thank you both (and your families) for a warm welcome into such a special day! So many smiles all in one place!
