Mothers, grandmothers, new mothers, those who have taken us in like mothers… Moms are the best!
I’ve had an incredibly strong and wonderful relationship with my mom all my life. We have so much in common, yet many differences as well. She is ALWAYS there for me with support, love and laughter, and I know I couldn’t possibly be the woman I am today without her. And as much as it makes us chuckle, I am becoming more and more like her as each year goes by!
(Sandy and her mom, a winter wedding in Woodstock, Vermont this February!)
On a wedding day, during the hustle and bustle of getting ready, I always smile when I see the bride with her mom. A big squeeze, a quick errand, fixing her daughter’s hair, a private joke, sharing a family heirloom or story before she walks down the aisle…
Likewise, the groom’s mom. She may hang with the ladies early on, but the look on her face when she gets back to her son is so special. She fixes his tie, pricks her finger on the boutonniere, straightens her own dress with quiet pride. Their dance together is the cutest, arms tight around her little boy.

UPDATE! My own mom bailed on me for Mother’s Day, spontaneously jaunting off to Arizona for a girls week (like mother, like daughter), so I need someone else’s mom to hang out with! Comment below and share your memories of a favorite photo with mom, and I’ll come photograph the winner and mom/children free on Mother’s Day afternoon!
The session is free, including two 8×10″ prints to keep. High-resolution digital files are provided for each print ordered in your online gallery. Distance covered from Plymouth to Chatham only please, on the afternoon of Sunday, May 12th. Winner chosen entirely at random by 5pm Thursday. Now get to it!
I’m interested in this not for me, but for my wife, and specifically for her mom who’s been having a real rough go of it. My wife & her two sisters are all supposedly going to visit their mom in Plymouth this weekend and what an amazing gift it would be for them to have photos taken to remind them later of how much they all love each other, especially her mom.
I have too many favorite mom memories! But this last weekend we went to NYC and my brother was supposed to take a picture of us riding the carousel, but instead he video taped the entire thing so we have a cool memory now for later in life :)
What a great idea;)
What a fantastic idea! My stories are not as moving as above but we will have four generations here on Sunday, what a memory to make!!!
I am the mom of an amazing 16-month-old boy and expecting a baby girl any minute. I have always been close with my mom, but being a mom with her and watching the love between her and my son has been amazing. I am thankful to have my mom here to guide me through the challenges of motherhood and to share the many smiles! I would love to have photos of the 3 generations!
I have four munchkins I would love pictures with!
My favorite memory of a photo with my mom was one from when I was four or five. My mom was finishing getting me ready for a ballet recital. My hair was in a perfect bun, I had the cutest little tutu on and I was holding up my arms so she could wrap the ties of my ballet sweater around my waist. I just love it.
My favorite photo of me and my mom was when she made us matching clown outfits for Halloween! We looked so freaking adorable! xo
One of my favorite photos of my mom and I is my Facebook cover photo right now. It was taken by my uncle who was a photographer. While I don’t remember the photo session itself (I was a toddler), every time I look at it I know just how it felt to be there in her arms.
She is not with us anymore and we don’t have any children of our own yet…except for our furry son…but I thought I would share anyway.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there. :-)
Love you Stac, thanks for helping me make lasting memories
